7 Ways To Stop Bleeding Hemorrhoids

by James Briggs

Hemorrhoids result from inflammation and swelling of the veins in your posterior region. They may grow to cause a lot of pain, itching, and distress. 75% of Americans have had hemorrhoids.

While painful, they can often be treated before they become worse. At times, hemorrhoids will get worse and then they may begin bleeding. Normally this occurs after a bowel movement. Hemorrhoids can form on the outside of the anus, and they can then bleed. Hemorrhoids can also occur inside the rectum, and while these generally don’t feel painful, they still bleed.

However, there are methods to end the bleeding of hemorrhoids.

1) Ointments – Make use of a hemorrhoid liniment, cream, oil or gel. These can be obtained at many stores. The pain will be less, and the hemorrhoids will be assisted in shrinking by the ointment. The bleeding will cease from this.

2) Baths – Soak in a warm tub. 3 to 4 inches of lukewarm water is enough. Elevate your knees in order to allow your posterior to soak. This increases blood circulation and permits shrinking of your hemorrhoids.

3)Cleanliness ” Keep the area around your anus and rectum clean. Make washing with soap and water a regular habit. This is really important after a bowel movement. The area will be kept clean and infection free.

4) Fluids – Constipation can be easily avoided if you do what you can. You can help loosen your stools by consuming at least eight glasses of water. This is crucial because hard bowel movements may lead to bleeding hemorrhoids.

5)Fiber – The addition of fiber in your diet is mandatory to keep hemorrhoids from bleeding. Consuming fiber helps to loosen and reduce your stools. Constipation will also be prevented. Fiber can be obtained by the consumption of a lot of vegetables and whole grain foods.

6) Ice – You can also place an icepack where it hurts. Use them for 15 to 20 minute intervals. This will help by shrinking the hemorrhoids and will also help to reduce the swelling. The bleeding from the hemorrhoids will cease.

7) Witch Hazel – Thoroughly clean the anus and rectum area before using Witch Hazel. Soak the Witch Hazel in ice until the bottle becomes icy to the touch. Put a little Witch Hazel on a ball of cotton and place it on the rectal area. This should reduce pain and help shrink the hemorrhoids which often stops the bleeding.

Always see your doctor if you happen to see blood in your stool or on the toilet paper. Bleeding can be caused by a lot of other things that are more serious than hemorrhoids. Don’t make the assumption that hemorrhoids are the cause. The determination can be made by your doctor for further examination for cancer of the rectum or any other problem that may be underlying.

If a doctor determines that the hemorrhoids are the cause of the bleeding, and if they are serious enough to warrant an operation, your doctor can make that decision and talk it over with you. Hemorrhoids that are bleeding can be treated at home, in many cases. By heeding the advice given above, you should be able to get the bleeding to cease as well as prevent your hemorrhoids from getting worse.
